Fostering saves lives; full stop. When you open your home to a foster animal, you’re giving them the safe, quiet space they need to heal, grow, or simply wait for their forever family. And you don’t have to be a pet expert to do it.
What does fostering mean?
Fostering means temporarily caring for an animal in your home until they’re adopted or ready to return to the shelter. The length of a foster stay can range from a few days to a few months depending on the animal’s needs.
Who can foster?
Almost anyone! You don’t need a big house or a yard. You do need to be committed, patient, and able to provide a safe environment. ARC will walk you through everything else.
What animals need fosters?
Neonatal kittens and puppies who need bottle feeding
Animals recovering from illness or surgery
Shy or anxious pets who need socialization
Senior animals who do better outside of a shelter environment
Moms with litters
What does ARC provide?
ARC provides fosters with food, supplies, and medical support for the animals in their care. You provide the love, the space, and the time. We’re always available to answer questions and support you through the process.
What about the “foster fail”?
A “foster fail” is when you love your foster animal so much you decide to adopt them. Honestly? We consider that a win. But don’t let fear of getting attached hold you back from fostering, even if you can’t adopt, you’re still giving that animal a critical bridge to their forever home.
